The Raiders Reportedly Have A Plan In Place For Josh Jacobs

The Las Vegas Raiders have some decisions to make this offseason.

After releasing quarterback Derek Carr, Las Vegas needs to decide what they want to do at the most important position.

It seems like they are at least interested in Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

But, having to trade for Rodgers will be no easy task.

Green Bay will want a nice package back including numerous draft picks.

Pairing Rodgers with Davante Adams would be a move that could make the Raiders a serious contender in the AFC.

But, they will still need to have a good running game.

Running back Josh Jacobs is set to be an unrestricted free agent, but the Raiders have no plans on letting him go.

At worst, the Raiders plan on using the franchise tag on Jacobs.

But, they still hope to get a long-term deal done with him.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Raiders will reportedly place the franchise tag on Josh Jacobs if a deal isn’t reached by the deadline.

Jacobs is coming off a career year, where he led the NFL in rushing and was named first-team all-pro.

In total, Jacobs rushed 340 times, for 1,653 yards and 12 touchdowns.

He had 2,053 scrimmage yards and an incredible 393 total touches.

We have seen in the past that paying running backs rarely works out.

So even though Jacobs was great last year, it is probably in the best interest of the Raiders to let him walk.

They can draft a mid-round running back and pay him far less over the next few seasons.

We saw the Dallas Cowboys pay running back Ezekiel Elliott and that did not work out.

So the Raiders would be smart to learn from the mistakes of other NFL teams.
