The Derek Carr sweepstakes just got a whole lot more interesting.

After his official release from the Las Vegas Raiders, the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints were named as two probable landing spots.

However, in a recent announcement, Carr will be meeting with another quarterback-needy team this weekend.

The New York Jets are the latest team to put their hat in the ring for Carr.

So far, the Jets have been linked to Aaron Rodgers, who is still a member of the Green Bay Packers.

Rodgers has a former connection with Nathaniel Hackett, the Jets’ new offensive coordinator.

However, the situation in New York is favorable to many quarterbacks that are on the move, given the number of weapons at their disposal.

During the 2022 regular season, the Jets defense was the fourth-best in the league, allowing just 19.1 points per game.

Their offense was the team’s biggest struggle, considering that they scored just 18.1 points per game.

With a new quarterback, the Jets are primed to take a gigantic step forward in 2023.

Their offense has many young weapons that are hungry for a new, improved quarterback, which would complement their dominant defense.

While the Jets drafted Zach Wilson with the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, he hasn’t instilled the type of confidence that the Jets would have liked at this point.

Will Carr or another veteran join the Jets in hopes of turning over a new leaf?

The offseason should be filled with an ongoing quarterback carousel, providing excitement leading up to the 2023 season.
