Packers GM Reportedly Made Some Telling Comments Last Season

The Green Bay Packers have once again found themselves in the heart of a quarterback conundrum.

This, of course, is the second time in the past two offseasons that Aaron Rodgers’ status is unknown.

Currently, Rodgers is on a darkness retreat, something that will allegedly help him come to a decision.

Regardless of Rodgers’ decision, a key member of the front office has reportedly made their feelings on the situation known.

“At one point late last year, Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told an NFL colleague he was convinced it was time the organization move on from quarterback Aaron Rodgers and see what Jordan Love had in him.” @TomSilverstein https://t.co/7lq1WDWfb6

Brian Gutekunst is the Packers’ general manager.

And it appears he may be fine beginning a new era in 2023.

Rodgers and Gutekunst, at least due to reports, haven’t always seen eye-to-eye.

Because he has been the team’s quarterback for so many seasons, Rodgers has felt that he should have a say in personnel decisions, especially in consideration of the team’s wide receivers.

However, the team doesn’t appear to listen to him.

During the entire time that Rodgers has been the Packers’ starter, the team has not drafted a wide receiver in the first round.

As many NFL fans have witnessed, in the last several seasons, there have been many impactful receivers taken in the first round.

Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, and Ja’Marr Chase are just a few examples.

If the Packers used their first-round capital on wide receivers, that could go a long way in their relationship with Rodgers moving forward.

Since they haven’t, the team is at a standoff with Rodgers yet again.

Now, it appears that they are more than comfortable moving forward with Jordan Love if Rodgers doesn’t come back to the team.

There’s still plenty of offseason left.

Who will be lining up under center for the Packers next season?
