Mel Kiper Jr. Says There Is A Consensus #1 Prospect In NFL Draft

Mel Kiper Jr. is one of the most respected NFL Draft experts in the industry.

Kiper has been covering the NFL Draft for ESPN since 1984, so he has plenty of experience to back up his claims.

The upcoming 2023 draft has been said to be filled with potential franchise-altering quarterbacks.

However, according to Kiper, there is one prospective individual that has risen to the top of the group.

Bryce Young is Kiper’s pick for the best player in the draft, and, in his opinion, should be the first overall pick.

Young won the Heisman trophy in 2021, and had a great 2022 season, even though he didn’t win the Heisman again.

There are several quarterback-needy teams that will have an opportunity to draft someone at this position in April.

Despite Kiper’s public support of Young, others have doubted his abilities to achieve at the highest level.

Young has recently been measured at 5-foot-11, which would make him one of the shortest quarterbacks in the league.

Typically, quarterbacks in the NFL measure between 6-1 and 6-4, although there have certainly been a few outliers.

Kyler Murray is shorter than Young but has encountered varied success in the league.

The fear with a shorter quarterback is that they won’t be able to see over their own offensive line.

Will Young be able to overcome his height in the NFL?

It didn’t seem to bother him at the college level.

Young is Kiper’s top pick at the moment, but, with two months until the draft, a lot can change.
