Giants GM Gives The Latest Update On Daniel Jones Contract Negotiations

The New York Giants need to figure out if Daniel Jones is worth top-tier quarterback money.

He is set to become an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins.

But, it seems as if the Giants are interested in getting a deal done.

Despite, not playing all that well in his career, Jones is expecting to be looking for around $40 million a year.

Last season he threw for only 15 touchdown passes and five interceptions in 16 games.

Despite leading the Giants to a playoff win, he should not be making top-of-the-market money.

But, it appears the Giants do not have a choice.

If they let Jones walk they will have no one to play quarterback.

Giants GM Joe Schoen seems optimistic that a deal will get done.

New York still has the option to franchise tag Jones if they can not agree on a new deal.

That would pay him around $32 million for next season.

While that might seem like an overpay, at least the Giants will ask Jones to prove it to them one more time.

He has become more known for his running than throwing, and that is a big issue.

We have seen that quarterbacks who run often get hurt, and Jones has already had a few injuries in his career.

The best move for the Giants would be to franchise tag Jones.

Make him show you he can win games with his arm, before giving him elite QB money.
