Chargers GM Comments On Justin Herbert’s Contract Situation

The Los Angeles Chargers have not been able to get over the playoff hump in recent years.

Despite making the playoffs last year, they blew a 27-0 to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wild-card round.

It was a terrible ending to what was a good season for the Chargers.

But, now as they head into the offseason, quarterback Justin Herbert will be looking for a new contract soon.

He has proven to be one of the best passers in the league and one of the top quarterbacks in the game.

You can be sure he will be looking for top-tier quarterback money.

Chargers GM Tom Telesco seems very confident that his team will get a contract extension done with Herbert in the near future.

“We’re confident that we’re gonna get a deal done with Justin Herbert and still be able to build a championship team around him”

Herbert is coming off a season where he threw for 4,739 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

Even though, the Chargers’ offense shut down in the second half of that playoff game.

Herbert should not take all of the blame for that.

Despite having no playoff success, the star quarterback has all the traits you look for in a future star.

He has the size, arm strength, and is a smart player.

LA would be wise to give him a massive contract.

But, how they build their team around him will be crucial.

No quarterback can be successful without good players around him.

Continuing to commit resources to the offensive side of the ball is a smart move.

Also, it will be interesting to see how Herbert does in his first year with new OC Kellen Moore.

Moore was successful in Dallas and should help the Chargers reach a new level of production.
