The NFL offseason is a time of hope, both for NFL franchises and also for their fanbases.

Between free agency and the draft, anything can happen.

Teams do everything they can to build their roster, in hopes that they will be able to contend for the Lombardi trophy.

There are better free-agent signings than others, as evidenced by some large deals that have taken place in recent memory.

With free agency looming, Colin Cowherd compiled a list of his top 10 free-agent signings in NFL history.

Many NFL fans forget that Drew Brees spent the first five years of his NFL career as a member of the San Diego Chargers.

In 2006, the New Orleans Saints made a move to sign Brees, which changed the trajectory of their franchise forever.

Brees was signed for a six-year, $60 million deal, and the rest is history.

In his time as the Saints’ starter, Brees only experienced five losing seasons.

Besides those years, the Saints were one of the most dominant teams in the NFC, largely due to Brees’ abilities.

In his career, Brees was able to rack up many accolades.

He was the Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2006, Super Bowl champion and MVP, and holds several NFL records, including the most consecutive games with a touchdown pass with 54.

While there have been some fantastic signings in the past, there are very few that truly changed the face of a franchise for over a decade.

Where should Brees be ranked in terms of all-time quarterbacks?
