A Commanders Assistant Coach Is Reportedly Leaving The Team

The Washington Commanders‘ 2022 season was something of a roller coaster.

After starting the year with a record of 1-4, the Commanders won six of their next seven games, bringing themselves back into the fold for the playoffs.

However, this streak quickly turned sour, as they lost three of their remaining five games, finishing the season with an 8-8-1 record.

After a season like this, there is often a lot of turnover within a particular coaching staff, as evidenced by a move that was made today.

I’m told #Commanders wide receivers coach Drew Terrell will be leaving the team, & he is currently expected to take a position with the Arizona #Cardinals, per league sources.

Drew Terrell is leaving the Commanders and will be joining the Arizona Cardinals coaching staff.

The Cardinals recently announced that Jonathan Gannon will be their newest head coach, attracting many candidates to flock to the Cardinals as well.

Terrell is the latest to join Gannon’s team, leaving a void in the Commanders’ personnel group.

Terrell is just 31 years old and leaves the Commanders after just two years as the team’s wide receivers coach.

The Commanders have two fantastic receivers in Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson, making this a desirable location for any coaching candidate.

Plus, the Commanders recently hired Eric Bieniemy as their offensive coordinator, who comes highly regarded from the Kansas City Chiefs.

In 2020, the Commanders were the only team from the NFC East to miss the playoffs.

The division is only getting stronger, which is why they hired Bieniemy and will look to make more coaching changes as well.

Will these changes be enough for the Commanders to make a splash in the league next season?
