Former NFL Player Names His ‘Boom Or Bust’ Free Agents

The National Football League is a ruthless business.

You can be a star one day and be out of the league at the end of the season, and teams won’t hesitate to dispose of you once you get some miles under your belt.

With that in mind, this year’s free agency class will feature quite some interesting names.

And according to former NFL player Maurice Jones-Drew, some guys will be the ultimate boom-or-bust free agents this summer:

RB Jamaal Williams, RB Miles Sanders, CB Patrick Peterson, WR Allen Lazard, TE Mike Gesicki, QB Jimmy Garoppolo, DE Marcus Davenport, DT Jadeveon Clowney, OT Orlando Brown Jr., and WR Odell Beckham Jr.

Williams could wind up being a huge difference-maker, but injuries will always be a concern, and Sanders isn’t getting any younger.

Patrick Peterson was one of the prime players in his position, but maybe Father Time will catch up to him in his next deal.

As for Allen Lazard and Mike Gesicki, they have the potential to be heavily involved in the passing game, yet it seems like they’ve been misused for the better part of their careers.

Jimmy Garoppolo is what it is at this point, and he’s never going to be much better, but he’d still be a huge upgrade for multiple QB-needy teams.

Marcus Davenport and Jadeveon Clowney have the physical tools to be impactful, but age will also be a concern.

As for Orlando Brown Jr., the sole fact that the Kansas City Chiefs didn’t hold on to him is a big-enough red flag.

Last but not least, it’s been a long while since we saw Odell Beckham Jr. out there.

And while he’s an athletic freak and impactful wideout, his history of injuries might drive teams away.
