The Tennessee Titans finished the 2022 season with a 7-10 record, marking their lowest win percentage since 2015.
Recently, the Titans have indicated that they are in the market to trade away Derrick Henry, marking the start of a potential rebuild.
Henry is one of the league’s top running backs, but trading him away indicates that the Titans aren’t in win-now mode.
Despite the Henry rumors, the Titans have recently been in talks to extend DeMarcus Walker, per Justin M, a Titans reporter.
The #Titans have had discussions with impending free-agent DeMarcus Walker regarding a potential contract extension, although an official offer hasn’t been made.
Both sides are working through it. Walker is due a sizable raise in pay after delivering a career-best season in 2022

Walker is a defensive end and had a career year in 2022.
He amassed 32 total tackles and seven sacks, the third-highest total on the team.
Walker will be 28 years old when the 2023 season begins, and, assuming that he is healthy, should have several years of elite production left.
The Titans have recognized the importance of retaining veteran defensive talent, evidenced by their recent conversations with Walker.
With free agency just around the corner, the Titans will likely do everything they can to re-sign Walker so he doesn’t get snatched up by another team.
Despite their 7-10 record, the Titans’ defense was their strongest unit, allowing just 21.1 points per game.
If they can build off their success from 2022, their defense should be in a great spot moving forward.
Keeping players around who know the system tends to help, as well.
Currently, the Titans are $23 million under the NFL’s salary cap.
If Walker is willing to come back, the Titans should have plenty of capital to re-sign him, as well as a few other free agents.
