The Saints Have Announced Another Salary Cap Clearing Move

When the offseason began, the New Orleans Saints had the second-least favorable salary cap situation in the NFL.

However, over the last several days, the Saints have been pulling strings behind the scenes, putting themselves in a better cap situation.

One of these moves happened recently, restructuring the contract of one of their best linemen.

The #Saints did a conversion on RT Ryan Ramczyk’s contract, clearing another $10.336 million in 2023 salary cap space.

Ryan Ramczyk has been one of the best linemen in the NFL over the past six seasons.

He was a member of the NFL’s All-Pro first team in 2019 and continues to be an effective member of the Saints’ line.

In 2021, Ramczyk signed a five-year, nearly $100 million contract extension with the Saints.

Because of this long-term contract, the Saints can move some of this money around.

This puts them in a much better position, especially regarding signing free-agent and rookie talent.

The Saints are in a difficult spot in terms of their quarterback situation.

As it stands, Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill are their top two options, but it doesn’t appear that the team is happy with either of them.

The Saints have been rumored to be in the market for either a free-agent quarterback or a rookie.

However, several teams in the league need a new quarterback to lead their team, meaning the Saints will need to be aggressive in their search.

The good news for the Saints is that the NFC South is up for grabs at the moment.

Even though they are likely going through a quarterback change, they should still have a great opportunity to contend for the division.
