The Los Angeles Rams ended the 2022 season with a 5-12 record, just one year after winning the Super Bowl.
This drop-off in production had many causes, including Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp’s season-ending injuries.
Ahead of the 2023 season, the Rams have needed to make several moves to get under the salary cap.
The latest causality is likely to be Leonard Floyd, according to Adam Schefter.
Rams are expected to release OLB Leonard Floyd if they cannot trade him first, per league sources. Floyd has had at least nine sacks in each of the past three seasons.

Floyd has been a valuable contributor for the Rams at the outside linebacker position.
In the past three years, he has amassed 10.5, 9.5, and 9 sacks, respectively.
During this time, he has also added 184 tackles.
Although he has been a dominant force on defense for the Rams, they will be forced to cut him if they don’t find a trade partner.
Currently, the Rams are $14 million over the league’s salary cap for the 2023 season.
Moving away from Floyd might be difficult, but ultimately, it will help the team’s cap situation moving forward.
Can the Rams get back to their winning ways in 2023?
Stafford and Kupp should be back, working their way toward full health.
However, Bobby Wagner, Jalen Ramsey, and Allen Robinson are also slated to leave the team to get under the salary cap.
With many of the Rams’ veterans set to exit the team, many have questioned their methods, and whether or not the Rams can succeed with a depleted roster.
The NFC West was dominated by the San Francisco 49ers last season, followed by the Seattle Seahawks.
The Rams have found themselves in a difficult division, and losing their seasoned veterans does not help their cause moving forward.
