The New Orleans Saints made Derek Carr their top choice since day one.
They even got the Las Vegas Raiders to trade him to the Big Easy, but Carr had other plans in mind.
He didn’t want to do the team any favors and decided not to waive his no-trade clause, which was quite the smart move in hindsight.
Now, he’ll join the Saints as a free agent without his new team losing any assets.
This was a bit of a shocking move, considering he was reportedly close to signing with the New York Jets.
But now, Saints fans can rest happily knowing that they got their QB1 for years to come, a four-time Pro Bowler who will instantly make their team much better.

Carr will get to play with some solid weapons like Chris Olave, Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas, and Taysom Hill, although the team’s biggest strength will continue to be on the defensive side of the field.
Notably, Carr’s addition puts the Saints atop of the sluggish NFC South Division, which seemed up for grabs now that Tom Brady was no longer with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Also, even though Carr is no Aaron Rodgers, he’s going to be way better than Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston, so there’s no reason to think the Saints couldn’t be a legit dark horse out of their division.
All things considered, Carr made the right choice, as he won’t have to deal with the Miami Dolphins, England Patriots, and Buffalo Bills twice a season now.
