The New York Jets have vaulted themselves to the top of many offseason conversations.

Recently, members of the Jets’ front office and coaching staff flew to California to meet with Aaron Rodgers.

After this meeting, many Jets players gave their public plea to Rodgers, making their case for him to join the team.

Whether the Jets will land Rodgers remains to be seen.

What we know at this time, is that the Jets continue to make strides to get under the salary cap.

Their most recent move was releasing Braxton Berrios, per Adam Schefter.

Jets are releasing WR Braxton Berrios at the start of the league year next week, per source. The two sides discussed a restructuring of his contract but were unable to reach agreement. His release will save $5 million against Jets’ cap.

By making this move, the Jets save $5 million in available cap space.

Many have said that this move is just clearing more space to sign a marquee talent like Rodgers, or even Jimmy Garoppolo.

The Jets haven’t been shy about their desire for a new quarterback, given Zach Wilson’s lack of production in his first two years on the team.

Despite Wilson’s early first-round capital, the team has all but moved on from him.

They are in an all-out pursuit of Rodgers, and now, the ball is in the court of him and the Green Bay Packers.

Moves like cutting Berrios, who was an impactful player for the Jets last season, continue to indicate their interest in pursuing Rodgers.

Rodgers is still on the Packers’ roster, although they allowed the meeting between him and the Jets.

If he does end up on their team for the 2023 season, many have already picked the Jets to make the playoffs, snapping their 12-year streak.
