Former NFL GM Has Advice For Lamar Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens have had some unique contract discussions with Lamar Jackson.

One reason you could say they have not come to a deal is that Jackson does not have an agent.

He has been negotiating this second contract by himself and with the help of his mother.

But, former NFL GM Michael Lombardi thinks that is a bad idea.

Lombardi thinks that a deal might already be done if Jackson has used an agent.

It is a unique situation for a player to negotiate what should be a massive contract extension on their own.

Also, not having an agent could ruin the relationship between Jackson and the Ravens.

Most players rely on their agents to broker the deal with their teams.

But, Jackson does not have that luxury.

Now that Jackson was given the non-exclusive franchise tag, he can negotiate with other teams.

It will be interesting to see what teams pursue the former MVP.

He is only 26 years old, and he should be looking for one of the largest contracts in NFL history.

It might be better for Jackson to try and negotiate with other teams.

The teams interested in him should be in desperate need of a QB and are willing to meet more of Jackson’s demands.

While the talk around Jackson has been quiet, expect to see a few teams make a strong push once free agency begins.

The Ravens might regret giving Jackson the non-exclusive tag, because he may be as good as gone.
