The Bears Reportedly Have A Plan For #1 Overall Pick

The Chicago Bears have a great problem on their hands right now.

They have the first-overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft but they also have a young, promising franchise quarterback to build around.

Several reports stated that the Bears were actually considering moving on from Justin Fields to take a risk on Alabama’s Bryce Young — the projected first pick — as his ceiling seems to be higher.

Now, however, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the team is leaning towards trading back and sending that pick elsewhere to build around Fields instead.

Sources: The Bears already have been approached by multiple teams about trading the draft’s No. 1 overall pick, and Chicago is said to be “leaning toward” moving the pick. So the No. 1 pick now looks like it’s for sale.

Teams will now have close to two months to submit their bids for the first pick to try and get one of the most promising QB prospects we’ve seen in years.

Likewise, the Bears will have to set their price to try and maximize the pick’s value and solve some of the many issues on their current roster.

Fields was far from impressive early in his career, and it didn’t seem like Matt Eberflus fully trusted him at the start of the season.

But he turned the corner midseason and looked like the best second-year QB at some point in the year, scrambling his way down the field and making plays with his feet.

The Bears still need to bolster their offensive Line to try and keep him safe, and adding a couple of weapons in the passing game won’t hurt, either.

Whatever the case, they’ll have plenty of money and potentially a lot of draft capital to get much better for the future.
