Texans Coach Gives The Latest Update On Brandin Cooks

The Houston Texans have a huge offseason ahead of them.

After a season in which they finished 3-13-1, the Texans have a lot of work they need to do.

First and foremost they should be focused on the NFL draft.

They have the second overall pick and need a franchise quarterback.

Luckily for them, there are a few good ones in this draft class.

One of Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud will be available for them at number two.

But, for any young quarterback, having weapons around them is important.

Houston does not have many good weapons, and their top wide receiver wants out.

Brandin Cooks has requested a trade from the team and is entering his age-30 season.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans plans to let the process play out naturally.

It would be a surprise if Cooks was with the Texans at the beginning of next season.

He has been a productive player in the league for a long-time and still has a few good years left.

One team that showed plenty of interest in Cooks at last season’s trade deadline was the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys still need to improve at receiver, so they are expected to be interested in Cooks.

It would make sense for Houston to trade Cooks and pick up more draft capital.

They are a team that is rebuilding for the future, and a 30-year-old wide receiver will not help them.

Expect to see Cooks in a new uniform come next season.
