The Baltimore Ravens are playing a dangerous game with their quarterback.
After giving Lamar Jackson the non-exclusive franchise tag, he can negotiate with other teams when free agency opens.
But, the Ravens will ultimately get the last say in any offer sheet Jackson agrees to.
Giving him this tag kind of seems like a slap in the face to their former league MVP.
He is well worth top-of-the-market money, yet the Ravens seem unwilling to pay him.
For Jackson, this might be the best-case scenario.
Now he gets to test the market and find a team that will pay him the contract he is looking for.
But, Rob Gronkowski seems to believe that Jackson will end up returning to Baltimore.

He mentions how there might be some talks behind the scenes with Jackson and the Ravens.
Usually, the franchise tag is placed on players as a placeholder to give the sides more time to negotiate a long-term deal.
But, with the Ravens giving him the non-exclusive tag, that leads some to believe that Baltimore is ready to move on.
Jackson is still only 26 years old, and he has already won a league MVP.
But, his elite dual-threat ability may scare some teams because he takes a lot of hits.
Jackson has played in 12 games each of the past two seasons, which is cause for concern.
Yet, every time he takes the field, his team seems to win.
As a starter, Jackson has a 45-16 record in his career which is a 73.8% win percentage.
Baltimore would be foolish to let him go, but we will have to wait and see how free agency plays out.
