For the first time since his incident earlier in the year, NFL standout Peyton Hillis addressed the thousands of fans and people who kept him in their prayers.
Hillis announced that he’s expected to make a full recovery after being hospitalized for rescuing four people — including at least one family member — from a swimming accident in Florida.
The Arkansas product shared a heartfelt statement, thanking people for all the love and support they gave him through this difficult time and also thanking the hospital staff for the outstanding job they did.
Hillis added that he hadn’t taken any interviews because he didn’t want his family to get all that attention, but he wanted to address those who are still concerned about his health.

He battled for his life after rescuing four people — two children and two adults — off the coast of Pensacola.
His girlfriend Angela Cole broke the news that he was taken into intensive care and was on a ventilator, later sharing that he was finally discharged from the hospital.
Hillis became prominent at the University of Arkansas, where his blocking skills paved the way for Darren McFadden’s rise to stardom, also running for nearly 1000 yards across four years.
He later took his talents to the National Football League, playing for the New York Giants, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, and Cleveland Browns, where he thrived with a 1,177-yard season in 2010.
He’s been retired since 2014 and will now be remembered until the end of time for being a real-life hero.
