Everybody at the NFL Scouting Combine is talking about Will Anderson, Derek Carr’s future, and Jalen Carter’s situation, and understandably so.

But as it usually happens, some other lesser-known prospects make the most of this opportunity to try and showcase their physical traits and skills and prove that they’re much better than scouts initially thought they were.

That seems to be the case with Northwestern’s defensive star Adetomiwa Adebawore.

Adebawore, a physical specimen at  282 pounds, ran a 4.49 40-yard dash and wowed with his athleticism, with NFL insider Peter Schrager stating that he was the biggest winner from the first day of the combine.

“He went to the Combine after having a fantastic Senior Bowl week, and people were like, ‘who is this guy?’” Schrager said. “Wonderful interview, wonderful young man.”

“My biggest winner of
Day 1 was Adetomiwa Adebawore. At 282 pounds— he ran DE, DT, and LB drills, jumped 37.5 inches, and ran a 4.49 40. Guys, that’s insane.”

Adebawore claims that he wants to be a first-round pick in this NFL Draft class.

And while that seemed like a long shot a couple of days ago, Schrager explained that he’s impressed plenty of people, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him keep rising on a lot of boards.

There’s no such as a can’t-miss kind of talent in the NFL Draft, at least most of the time.

Drafting isn’t an exact science, and plenty of things could make a player’s career go wrong.

But physical traits and athleticism are usually solid predictors of a player’s ability to adapt and adjust to the pros, and this guy might as well wind up being one of the biggest sleepers in this year’s class.
