Panthers GM Had An Interesting Answer About QBs In Draft

The Carolina Panthers have been often identified as a team that is quarterback-needy heading into the 2023 season.

Last year, the Panthers saw three different starting quarterbacks en route to their 7-10 record.

Sam Darnold, P.J. Walker, and Baker Mayfield all saw playing time for the Panthers.

While they appear to be in the market for a starting quarterback, the Panthers’ general manager, Scott Fitterer, had a few comments on the situation, seemingly confirming what the public has believed.

“If you got a guy you have conviction on, go get him,” he said.

I asked Scott Fitterer how aggressive the Panthers will be if they believe their guy is in this draft. Here’s what he said: pic.twitter.com/t3CdO0EvBg

Fitterer also added, “I hope we’re not picking in the top ten again.”

Barring a trade, the Panthers currently hold the ninth overall pick in the NFL Draft in April.

Several quarterback prospects in this class have been identified as potential first-round talents.

Being that the Panthers have a top-ten pick, they will likely be in a prime position to draft a top-five quarterback in the class.

Will the ninth overall pick be enough for them?

Several teams above them are also in the market for a quarterback.

Fitterer and the Panthers appear determined to not let this be the case and will look to be aggressive.

If the organization feels so inclined, they could trade up to a top-three or five spot, guaranteeing that they get the player that they want.

In the NFL, having stability at the quarterback position is everything.

The Panthers haven’t experienced that since the early days of Cam Newton.

Could this draft provide the missing piece for this organization?
