One of the most prominent prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft has made the headlines recently, but not for the best reasons.

Georgia product Jalen Carter has been tied with the fatal accident that killed a staff member and teammate in January.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Athens-Clarke County PD in Georgia issued an arrest warrant that claims Carter was racing and recklessly driving on the Jan 15. clash that led to Chandler LeCroy’s death.

Georgia DT Jalen Carter was booked at 11:33 p.m. ET on Wednesday night and released at 11:49 p.m. after posting bond, according to online records.https://t.co/BdKXHsivUy

Carter was reportedly racing in his 2021 Jeep Trackhawk and later fled the scene before coming back 15 to 30 minutes later.

Schefter broke the news just a couple of hours after The Atlanta Journal-Constitution released a report placing Carter at the scene of the crash.

The star DT was reportedly booked for reckless driving and racing on highways/streets and was released on a $4,000 bond.

Carter is considered by some as the best defender in this class, as he was a driving force in Georgia’s recent success and back-to-back National Championships.

Unsurprisingly, the young DT canceled his media availability at the NFL Scouting Combine shortly after the news broke, alleging that he’s still going through physical evaluations.

He and his camp expect to be fully exonerated from any wrongdoing, but the timing for this report couldn’t have been any worse.

Still, Carter has been so good that some believe this won’t affect his NFL Draft stock in the slightest, especially considering how much league officials like to look the other way when it comes to a potential generational talent.
