The Atlanta Falcons have made NFL headlines ahead of March 15, which marks the start of a new league year.
Before this deadline, the Falcons locked up one of their offensive linemen and did not allow him to test free agency.
Chris Lindstrom was inked to a five-year, $105 million deal, per Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.
Chris Lindstrom was @PFF’s highest-graded player last season. I know these grades can be subjective but the #Falcons putting those numbers to paper backs it up and shows you what they think of their young lineman. https://t.co/6rnPwOZNWr

As Garafolo reports, PFF graded Lindstrom as the best player during the 2022 season.
Lindstrom was the Falcons’ first-round pick in the 2019 draft, and will now get the opportunity to continue to showcase his skills on their roster.
After this news broke, many football fans expressed their opinion on the manner, doling out mixed reviews.
20Ms for an O-Lineman is kinda steep but he is our best player an an all-pro so it works out i guess https://t.co/1DciJuQVo7 pic.twitter.com/t6oXufWmy3

As this Falcons fan points out, $20 million per year is an expensive price to pay for an offensive lineman.
However, as evidenced by teams such as the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, it pays to have a strong offensive line.
If Lindstrom can continue his dominance, this should be great news for the Falcons’ next quarterback, as another fan states.
Well deserved. One of the better linemen in the league last season. Falcons have plenty of money to burn. Keep Ridder (or Lamar) safe. https://t.co/G1K9otvO62

The Falcons are reported to be out on the Lamar Jackson sweepstakes, but extending a player like Lindstrom could be enticing for another free-agent quarterback.
Even though initial reactions have been overwhelmingly positive for this move, some fans have voiced their skepticism.
I’m in the minority, but I’d hate to pay an interior OL that much of the cap. https://t.co/hcKmazLdx6

This is an expensive contract for any player, but it’s an unprecedented amount for a lineman.
As this fan points out, $105 million is a significant portion of the Falcons’ salary cap.

How much of an impact will this make on the Falcons over the next several seasons?
