NFL Analyst Has A Message For The Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers looked like a mess this season, and management started a remodeling process in October when they fired head coach Matt Rhule and traded star running back Christian McCaffrey.

That process has continued since the end of the season, as the Panthers have hired Frank Reich, formerly of the Indianapolis Colts, to be their new head coach.

The thinking seems to be that they will be going through a rebuilding process that will take some time.

But NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky actually thinks Carolina is just one good quarterback away from what he calls “good play,” and he made it clear that the team needs to be aggressive this offseason because they have an opportunity to do well in 2023.

The Panthers had to make do with Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Jacob Eason, and P.J. Walker under center in 2022 at various times, and none of them played particularly well.

While they don’t have many Pro Bowlers on their roster, they do have a couple of players who are promising.

Running back D’Onta Foreman put up a solid 914 rushing yards and five touchdowns, while wide receiver D.J. Moore had 888 yards and seven touchdowns.

On the other side of the football, defensive end Brian Burns is a rising prospect who tallied 12.5 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, and 22 quarterback hits while being named to the Pro Bowl for the second straight year.

The best news for the Panthers is that the NFC South was very weak this season, and with the retirement of Tom Brady, it could be even weaker in 2023.
