New Cardinals HC Comments On Helping Kyler Murray

The Arizona Cardinals have found their next head coach.

They hired former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon to lead their team.

Gannon is 40 years old and will get his first opportunity as a head coach in the NFL.

Taking over the Cardinals will be no small task for Gannon.

Arizona finished last season with a record of 4-13, and one of the worst defenses in the NFL.

Gannon will be looking to flip this defense around as he did in Philadelphia last year.

Despite having a terrible showing in the Super Bowl, the Eagles’ defense was one of the best in the NFL.

They led the NFL in sacks and gave up only 20.2 points per game.

It will be interesting to see what personnel choices Gannon makes to build his new defense.

But, offensively is where Gannon needs to make smart decisions.

The Cardinals have quarterback Kyler Murray, who is talented, but also unproven in the league.

The search for offensive coordinator is underway, Gannon, said, but the idea will be to maximize Kyler Murray. “We have an elite one,” Gannon said, motioning to Murray, who is sitting in the front row.

Hiring the offensive play caller could make all the difference for Murray.

Someone that he will listen to and learn from is crucial in the quarterback’s development.

No matter how good the defense is, it is impossible to win in this league without good quarterback play.

Murray will miss time next season as he recovers from an ACL tear he suffered on December 12th.

Also, the Cardinals are in the NFC West and will have their work cut out for them.

Having to play the Rams, Seahawks, and 49ers twice will be no small task for a coach in his first year.
