Lamar Jackson Is Reportedly Getting Guidance On His Next Contract

The Baltimore Ravens need to make a decision, and they need to make it soon.

They need to decide whether Lamar Jackson will be their quarterback going forward and if so, pay him what he wants.

If not, they better try and figure out where to send him, as it doesn’t seem like he’s going to be happy with the franchise tag.

Of course, giving up all that money wouldn’t be an option for Jackson, either, especially given his market value would only plummet.

But he’s made it clear that he’s not going to take less guaranteed money than what some of his colleagues got in recent deals, which is pretty fair.

Notably, ESPN’s Diana Russini reports that Jackson is actually getting guidance from the NFLPA in his contract negotiations, so he clearly knows what he’s doing.

QB Lamar Jackson doesn’t have a traditional agent representing him in negotiations with the Baltimore Ravens but he is getting guidance from the NFLPA. I’m told he is not negotiating alone.

The Ravens reportedly offered him $133 million guaranteed of a $250 million deal, which Jackson found insulting.

He’s a former MVP and one of the best dual-threat QBs in the league, and he was having one of the best seasons of his career in 2022, at least in terms of the passing game.

Simply put, the Ravens don’t stand a chance to compete without Jackson behind center, and it became even more evident once he had to sit out with an injury.

Of course, durability will always be a concern, especially for scrambling QBs, but this is not the time for them to try and gamble.

He’s a franchise QB, and needs to be paid as such.

End of story.
