Jordan Love Can Change A Common Trend In Green Bay

The Green Bay Packers have been a franchise long known for their success.

Most of the reason for their many successful seasons has been their quarterback play.

Some of the most recognized names are Bart Starr, Brett Favre, and now Aaron Rodgers.

But, it appears that Rodgers might be on his way out of Green Bay.

This would open the door for the future of their franchise, Jordan Love.

Green Bay has never been opposed to paying their quarterback’s top dollar.

According to Warren Sharp, the Packers have had at least a $20 million cap hit for their starting quarterback every year since 2017.

Packers QB1 cap hit by year & ranking

2017 – $20.3M, #6 highest in NFL
2018 – $20.9M, #14 in NFL
2019 – $26.7M, #2 in NFL
2020 – $21.6M, #15 in NFL
2021 – $27.1M, #3 in NFL
2022 – $28.5M, #6 in NFL
2023 – $3.1M, #419 in NFL*

But, if Love is the starter in 2023, he would finally break that trend.

That is because Love is still on his rookie deal, and he will only make $3.1 million.

That alone should be one reason why the Packers should look to move on from Rodgers.

It would give the Packers the cap flexibility to build a much better roster.

Also, Rodgers may only want to play one or two more seasons, so Green Bay should start looking toward the future.

The Packers still don’t know what they have in Love.

He was their first-round pick in 2020, yet has only played in 10 games in his career.

Green Bay needs to know if Love is capable of being a starting quarterback in the league.

If not, they will have to look toward drafting a new one.

It will be interesting to see how this offseason unfolds for the Packers.
