The New York Jets are pretty close to landing one of the best players in recent Green Bay Packers history.

But no, it’s not the guy you think it is, although he could help convince him to follow him to the Big Apple.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets are nearing an agreement with Packers WR Allen Lazard, one of the most prolific pass-catchers in the post-Jordy Nelson era in Green Bay.

Serving as the clear No. 2 behind Davante Adams, Lazard hauled in 68 receptions for 2,216 yards and 19 scores from Rodgers across five seasons.

Now, he may soon be reunited with former OC Nathaniel Hackett, and he might as well be just the little push Rodgers needs to finally agree to be traded to the Jets.

The word around the league is that the Packers don’t want Rodgers to come back, and the Jets are desperately craving a starting-caliber quarterback, let alone a future first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Rodgers took some time off to contemplate whether he wanted to retire or keep playing.

But walking away from the game would mean leaving nearly $60 million on the table, all while being in Tom Brady’s shadow during his Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony.

The new league year kicks off on Wednesday, March 15, at 4:00 p.m. (ET), and the legendary gunslinger needs to make up his mind soon.

So, it’s nice to see that the Jets are doing their due diligence and trying to make it an easy decision for him.
