Jets Insider Details A Critical Week For The Franchise

The New York Jets seem to have the future of their franchise weighing on this offseason.

After a 7-10 season that saw them miss out on the playoffs again, the Jets staff knows changes must be made.

The one spot they need to look at the most is quarterback.

Even though they hoped Zach Wilson would be the future, it is clear he will not flourish in New York.

So the Jets need to find a new starting quarterback.

One player they seem very interested in is former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

Carr was released by the Raiders a few weeks ago and is now free to sign with any team.

Another player the Jets might go after is Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Both would be significant upgrades in New York and could help get them back to the playoffs.

As we enter NFL combine week, the Jets’ front office is expected to meet with Carr at some point.

That could help clear up how likely it is for him to become their next QB.

Next few days will be critical for the future of the Douglas/Saleh regime. Douglas will have to be at his savvy best to navigate Carr free agency/Rodgers drama. Not your typical QB pursuit; timing is so key. Woody Johnson in Indy to meet with Carr. #Jets

The Jets have been trying to patch together decent quarterback play for years.

It is time they take a chance on a veteran with a proven track record.

Even though Carr has no playoff success, he at least has multiple productive seasons.

He would be a massive upgrade over anyone on their current roster.

With Rodgers’ status still in limbo, the Jets should make Carr the top priority.

If they can come to terms on a deal, the Jets could be looking at a playoff berth for the first time since 2010.
