Not so long ago, everybody expected the Chicago Bears to either trade down in the NFL Draft or pursue a top-tier prospect to pair with Justin Fields.
Now, people don’t seem so sure anymore, as there has been plenty of talk about them potentially moving on from their young QB, with Bryce Young’s draft stock continuing to rise.
There have always been questions about Young’s size — or lack thereof — but he’s still found ways to dominate and make plays on nearly every snap.
But according to NFL analyst Mike Tannenbaum, the Bears shouldn’t be scared away because of Young’s measureables, comparing him to Stephen Curry and stating that he’ll be a better quarterback than Fields a couple of years down the line:
“He’s small, and I think he’s going to be an exception,” Tannenbaum said on ESPN’s Get Up. “I think Todd McShay used this analogy first — which is I think he’s got Steph Curry in him. I think he has really good short area of movement, I think he has really good flexibility. I think he’s going to be a great passer, not a good passer, and over the next 3-5 years, I think Bryce Young is going to be the better NFL QB than Justin Fields.”

Young has dominated SEC players for years, and nearly 18% of the league has come from SEC teams, so that’s also a factor.
The Alabama star has all the tools to be one of the marquee names in the National Football League, regardless of his short height and seemingly small body.
The Bears will now have to entertain every single possibility, and they might also explore the trade market for their current quarterback.
Fields is coming off a solid season, and he’s still quite young and with a big upside, so they might get pretty decent value in return for his services.
But that’s also one reason why the Bears could consider holding on to him and not taking any risks with an unproven and undersized prospect, as promising as he might be.
