Former Jets GM Explains How He Would Pitch Aaron Rodgers

The New York Jets cannot afford to mess things up right now.

With Derek Carr out of the picture, they oughta do whatever it takes to get Aaron Rodgers in town; it’s as simple as that.

The Green Bay Packers have already granted Rodgers permission to speak with the Jets, and it’s no secret that they’ve been keeping tabs on his situation since the end of the season.

With that in mind, former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum quickly summarized how the Jets need to pitch Rodgers to convince him to request a trade there:

“You win in New York, Aaron; there’s NOTHING like it for your legacy,” Tannenbaum said on ESPN’s Get Up.

Well, it doesn’t get any simpler than that.

Rodgers is already considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, and there’s no doubt that he’s a future first-ballot Hall of Famer.

However, it’s been over a decade since he made it to the Super Bowl, and every year he doesn’t make it, it becomes a bit of a stain on his otherwise flawless résumé.

Rodgers has won it all in the National Football League, but leading an ever-struggling franchise like the Jets to the top would cement his legacy as one of the most impactful throwers of the football ever.

Also, his reputation has taken a major hit over the past couple of years, starting with the vaccination debacle and continuing with his unorthodox offseason habits.

All of that would go away in the blink of an eye if he won a ring with the New York Jets, and they have a roster that’s good enough to help him achieve that.
