Mike McDaniel had, by all accounts, a successful first season with the Miami Dolphins.

Despite multiple concussions from Tua Tagovailoa, the Dolphins were able to make the playoffs after a five-year hiatus.

McDaniel’s on-field schemes proved to be valuable to the team’s success, but he has also cultivated a new culture in the Dolphins’ locker room.

His relationships with the players and his coaching staff have been noted, and the Dolphins will continue to grow in 2023.

During the past week, McDaniel and his staff were at the combine, scouting potential draft prospects.

When he was at the combine, the NFL’s media coverage panned to McDaniel, who clearly wasn’t expecting to be on camera.

His response was priceless, causing social media to react accordingly.

Unfortunately for McDaniel and the Dolphins, they will not make a selection in April’s draft until the second round.

They forfeited one first-round pick due to tampering with Tom Brady and Sean Payton.

Their other first-round pick was traded to the Denver Broncos when the team traded for Bradley Chubb.

As a result, the Dolphins only have five total picks in the 2023 draft.

They have their second-rounder, two third-rounders, a sixth, and seventh-round pick.

The Dolphins are still $15 million over the salary cap, meaning that they won’t have much wiggle room to sign key free-agent talent.

How will the Dolphins grow and reshape their roster in hopes of making the playoffs for a second-straight season?

McDaniel and crew might have to get creative in their search.
