The New Orleans Saints got the guy they wanted from the start.

Derek Carr is officially heading to the Big Easy to play under coach Dennis Allen, putting an end to one of the most interesting stories of the offseason.

Carr was the biggest name in the QB free agent market this season, and while some teams would rather keep an eye on Aaron Rodgers’ situation, he was going to be the most sought-after player.

However, even though Derek isn’t available anymore, it doesn’t mean that any other team couldn’t get another member of the Carr family, as former NFL player David Carr hilariously confirmed that he’s still a free agent.

Got my hopes up. I did like 10 push-ups this morning when I heard the news https://t.co/Xtmr4KQfK9

Carr and Tom Pelissero took a hilarious shot at fellow NFL insider Mike Garafolo, who misspelled Derek’s name when breaking the news of his deal with the Saints, citing that it was David Carr who was heading to New Orleans.

Notably, even David Carr once reported that the Jets were his brother’s likeliest destination, so it seems like the Saints needed to do their due diligence and step their game up to get the deal done.

They signed him to a four-year deal worth $150 million, with $100 million guaranteed ($70 million fully guaranteed with $60 million at signing and another $10 million in year 3), putting together a team-friendly deal that will allow the Saints to keep making moves this offseason.

That’s nowhere near what David would demand in a potential new deal, so if your team is looking for a veteran QB, you guys should give him a call.
