Colin Cowherd Says There Is A Simple Way To Maximize Aaron Rodgers

Everyone in Wisconsin is holding their breath and waiting to see if Aaron Rodgers will still be the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers next season.

Of course, they went through this last offseason when he was demanding a huge new contract, and he got it, only to see superstar wide receiver Davante Adams get subsequently traded.

After winning 13 games in each of the previous three seasons, Green Bay went just 8-9 and narrowly missed out on a playoff spot.

Where Rodgers was once widely respected, many now consider him a diva, and his production dipped somewhat in 2022.

Commentator Colin Cowherd says there’s a simple way to maximize Rodgers and win with him moving forward, and it is to limit the power he has within the team.

Cowherd pointed out that once current head coach Matt LaFleur took over for the 2019 season, the Packers started running the ball more, and they went from missing the playoffs in back-to-back seasons to reaching two straight NFC Championship Games.

Cowherd also said that early this season, the Packers didn’t run the ball much, but once they did so more often, they played better, which resulted in a late four-game winning streak.

The commentator surmised that Rodgers’ new contract led to LaFleur having less authority to scheme the team’s offense the way he felt was best for its success.

Even if Rodgers remains a Packer and is kept in his place as far as his leverage over the team, the team doesn’t have that tall a ceiling, as its offense and defense were mediocre in 2022, and there isn’t another Davante Adams either on the team currently or available for it to acquire.
