Dan Campbell Makes The Lions’ QB Plan Clear

The Detroit Lions are in a rebuilding process, yet they somehow did much better than most anticipated in 2022 by getting to the brink of earning a wild-card playoff spot.

They have a couple of studs on offense in running back Jamaal Williams, who scored 17 touchdowns, and Pro Bowl wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Although quarterback Jared Goff had a strong year with 4,438 yards, 29 touchdown passes and a Pro Bowl nod as an alternate, the Lions may not stick with him moving forward.

They have the sixth and 18th picks in the upcoming NFL draft, and head coach Dan Campbell said that they will look at their options.

Goff is relatively young at age 28, but as Campbell noted, he won’t be around in Detroit for the next 10 years.

From what the Lions’ coach said, it looks like they won’t aggressively pursue another signal-caller, but they will look to snag one if the right opportunity presents itself.

This year’s draft is considered to be rich in viable QB prospects, and while University of Alabama star Bryce Young likely won’t be available at No. 6, there should be at least one other interesting prospect still on the board.

However, most would agree that Detroit needs to improve most on defense, as they finished 28th in points allowed and last in total yards given up.

The team has standout rookie defensive lineman Aidan Hutchinson, who was the runner-up for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award, but they need to patch multiple holes on that side of the football.
