The San Francisco 49ers were already one of the biggest juggernauts in the NFC.
So, obviously, adding a superstar like Christian McCaffrey only made them more of a threat.
Unsurprisingly, McCaffrey was a seamless fit for Kyle Shanahan’s offense, making an impact from day one despite the logjam in their backfield.
Notably, now that he’s had some time to reflect on the few months he spent with his new team, the former Carolina Panther seems quite impressed with the locker room and how they’ve meshed together.
In a recent interview with NBC Sports, McCaffrey talked about how he could tell that the team was quite close, with nearly two dozen players from that Super Bowl LIV loss still on the roster:
“For me personally, I came in the middle of the year not knowing what was going on,” McCaffrey said. “I knew people but didn’t know people, which was a weird experience. But you could just tell — I think there was 22 guys from the [Super Bowl LIV] team that are still on the team, so they set a culture and a standard that have been there for a while. I was just pumped up to join them.”
“You can tell they’ve been through some s–t together.”

CMC adds that the team’s chemistry and culture helped him focus solely on what was important, which was actually doing his job and delivering every single time he was out there.
When healthy, there’s no denying that McCaffrey might as well be the most disruptive running back in the league, and his pass-catching ability is nearly unmatched at his position.
The Niners have no shortage of offensive options and talent, although poor QB play held them back more often than not, at least before Brock Purdy took over.
Kyle Shanahan’s team has knocked on the door of a Super Bowl win for quite some time now, and it kind of feels like it is long overdue at this point.
Hopefully, he’ll be able to help keep on building that winning culture and win a championship for the first time in nearly three decades.
