The Kansas City Chiefs have had one of the best offenses in the NFL since drafting Patrick Mahomes in 2018.

Other than the greatness of Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid, there has been an unsung hero of their offense.

That has been offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

In his five seasons as OC of the Chiefs, they have never been worst than sixth in points per game and sixth in yards per game.

But, Bieniemy felt it was time to move away from Kansas City.

One reason he felt that way was because he was not getting the head coaching opportunities that he felt he deserved.

Many people around the league gave the credit in Kansas City to Reid.

But now Bieniemy will get an opportunity to lead an offense all by himself in Washington.

The Chiefs released a tweet thanking Bieniemy for all he had done for them over the past decade.

10 seasons of leadership, dedication, and greatness. Plus two Lombardi trophies to show for it.

But, there is no question things will be much tougher for Bieniemy in Washington.

They do not have good offensive personnel and need a franchise quarterback.

For Bieniemy, this will be his first time calling plays for a quarterback not named Mahomes.

All in all, this seems like a great opportunity for Bieniemy to show the league what he can do.

If 2023 is a successful season for him, he will certainly be atop the available head coaches after next season.

It will be interesting to see what the Commanders do at quarterback in 2023 because they could ultimately decide their success.
