Keenan Allen has been one of the most dominant wide receivers in the NFL over the past ten seasons.

He has been a staple of the Los Angeles Chargers and is a fan favorite as well.

Early in the offseason, Allen was pointed to as a likely departure, given the amount of cap space that he occupies.

However, Chargers GM Tom Telesco has refuted these claims, saying there has been no thought of possibly trading the star receiver.

#Chargers GM Tom Telesco said on @gmfb said there has been no thought of possibly trading WR Keenan Allen this offseason.

Allen has a $21.7M cap number for 2023. The Chargers are $20M over the cap and are currently the only NFL team paying two receivers $20M-plus per year.

The team is sticking with one of their marquee veterans, despite his $21.7 million cap hit.

Last season, the Chargers lost in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, despite a commanding halftime lead.

Even though the Chargers have a few more moves to make navigating the salary cap space, it appears that Allen will stay on the roster.

This is great news for Justin Herbert, as he continues to grow and develop as the Chargers’ quarterback.

Herbert is one of several young, talented quarterbacks in the AFC, and will need all the help he can get to succeed moving forward.

Unfortunately for Herbert, as long as he is on the Chargers, he will have to play against Patrick Mahomes twice per year.

The AFC West has been dominated by the Chiefs for the last seven seasons.

Will Herbert and the Chargers be able to break through, shattering the Chiefs’ seven-year streak?

Young head coach Brandon Staley certainly has his work cut out for him, especially now that Sean Payton is also coaching in the division.
