The Atlanta Falcons have been one of the most intriguing teams during the 2023 NFL offseason.

They were initially rumored to be in the Lamar Jackson sweepstakes, but appear to be disinterested at this point.

Ahead of March 15, which marks the beginning of free agency, the Falcons made a few key moves to add to their roster.

They have added Jonnu Smith to their growing offense, and have recently extended one of their linemen.

According to Adam Schefter, the Falcons have signed Chris Lindstrom to a five-year contract extension.

Lindstrom will be entering his fifth NFL season in 2023.

Instead of letting him test free agency, the Falcons decided to lock him down for the next five years.

Lindstrom was the 14th pick of the 2019 draft and has made a sizable impact on the Falcons’ offensive line ever since.

Currently, the Falcons haven’t resolved their quarterback situation like many were expecting.

However, given that the team has locked up Lindstrom, whoever lines up under center next season should be in great hands.

The Falcons finished the 2022 season with a 7-10 record.

Their offense averaged 20.9 points per game, which was near the league average.

Their defense allowed 23.1 points per game, one of the highest totals in the league.

With an improved roster, built through free agency and the draft, the Falcons should see a marked improvement in 2023.

The NFC South was won by the Tampa Buccaneers in 2022 with an 8-9 record.

The other three teams, including the Falcons, had a 7-10 record.

If they make the necessary changes, the Falcons can put themselves in a prime position to contend for the division next year.
