The Los Angeles Chargers have recently made multiple contract moves to get under the 2023 salary cap.

This new amount will go into effect on March 15, which is when the new league year officially starts.

The two players whose contracts were affected were Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, clearing a total of $14.36 million.

A bunch of salary conversions filed overnight to clear 2023 cap space: #Chargers WRs Keenan Allen (cleared $8.9 million) and Mike Williams (cleared $5.46M)#Dolphins edge Bradley Chubb (cleared $14.656M)#Panthers OT Taylor Moton (cleared $11M)

Before this move, Allen was rumored to be a free agent in the offseason, given the amount of cap space that his contract occupies.

However, it appears that the Chargers are making every effort to keep Allen on the team.

Justin Herbert will be entering his fourth NFL season in 2023.

He has improved each season, leading the Chargers to a playoff appearance in 2022 after a 10-7 season.

Last year, Herbert threw for 4,739 yards, 25 touchdowns, and ten interceptions.

He also completed over 68 percent of his passes, nearly 2 points higher than his previous career high.

Having veteran receivers like Allen and Williams is essential for his career development, and it appears that the Chargers’ front office echoes this sentiment.

Many Chargers fans have wondered what the offense will look like next season, given the fact that the team has a new offensive coordinator.

Kellen Moore spent his previous five seasons on the Dallas Cowboys staff but will look to lead the Chargers offense in a new direction.

Although Austin Ekeler had a strong rushing season, Herbert had the second-highest amount of passing attempts, with 699.

Will Moore be able to slow down the offense, taking less pressure off Herbert, and creating a more balanced unit?
