Giants Insider Shares A List Of Positives With The Daniel Jones Deal

The New York Giants knew they needed to do something with quarterback Daniel Jones.

He was set to be a free agent, but the Giants were not ready to let him walk.

New York and Jones came to terms on a massive four-year, $160 million contract extension on Tuesday.

Jones is set to make $40 million per season, which is a number that most people think is an overpay.

But, some things in this deal make it a win-win for both sides.

According to Jordan Raanan, Jones is set to make $82 million guaranteed over the first two years.

The three-year average is also $37.5 million.

Also, there are plenty of incentives in the deal that Jones can hit if he continues to play well.

Raanan also mentioned how the Giants could get out of the deal after just two years.

That has a lot to do with paying him a lot of the guaranteed money upfront.

Jones has not shown that he can carry a team with his arm.

He has never had a good passing season in his career.

Last year, Jones threw for 15 touchdowns and five interceptions in 16 games.

But the fact that he won a road playoff game over the Minnesota Vikings gave Jones plenty of credit.

Head coach Brian Daboll did a great job of helping Jones limit his turnovers.

But, he is still far away from being an elite passer.

He was more dangerous with his legs last season than his arm and that is not something that can hold up.

The Giants did not want to let their former first-round pick walk in free agency, but they may regret this contract.
