There’s never a good time to get hurt, but the NFL Scouting Combine might as well be the worst time to do it.
If you don’t take our word for it, just ask USC star OL Andrew Vorhees.
Vorhees suffered a non-contact injury during Sunday drills, and NFL insider Tom Pelissero reports that he’s feared to have suffered a torn ACL.
Notably, Pelissero reported that he still managed to hit the bench press on Monday morning, doing 38 reps of 225 pounds with just one foot on the ground.

That’s the kind of toughness that scouts loved about him so much, and one of the intangible traits that made him such a driving force for the Trojans.
He made 37 starts in college, most of them at right guard, earning an All-American selection in his final years in California.
He missed just one game with an injury during the regular season, but he was forced to be on the sidelines for both the Pac-12 title game and the Cotton Bowl, all but confirming his vital role in the Trojans’ otherwise bad offensive line.
Most scouts saw Vorhees as a third-to-fifth-round pick, with most discrepancy being due to either his injury-proneness or most team’s needs.
Needless to say, suffering a major injury at the NFL Scouting Combine could only raise more concerns and questions about his durability.
Vorhees could be looking at an entire season out, which could severely hamper his draft stock.
Teams will be able to do medical re-checks in mid-April, so he won’t have all that much time to get better.
