Tua Tagovailoa had something of a breakout season in 2022 for the Miami Dolphins, as he put up 3,548 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns and an NFL-high 105.5 passer rating.
However, it was marred by the multiple concussions he suffered that limited him to 13 games.
It took him over a month to clear concussion protocol following his most recent concussion, which has left his NFL future in doubt.
Although Tagovailoa wants to continue playing, NFL reporter Josina Anderson reported that the Dolphins aren’t necessarily married to Tagovailoa, as they’re not sure if they will pick up his option for the 2024 season.
In fact, Anderson said they will look at the possible option of replacing him under center should such an opportunity arise.
I’m told multiple people have been made aware within the #Dolphins organization that the team will explore all options at quarterback, per league source–this as the decision continues to linger on a long-term deal and the 5th-year option on Tua Tagovailoa. pic.twitter.com/c6Os0hdL7h

Some fans doubted the validity of Anderson’s report, as they feel the Dolphins will undoubtedly stick with Tagovailoa.
this is full of inaccuracies, assumption & irresponsibility
The Miami Dolphins, just like EVERY FRANCHISE IN THE NFL,look at all options, every off-season,in an effort to improve their team & compete for a chip.
They are NOT looking to move on from Tua out of fear of concussions.

Josina who are these league sources? I mean my friend Bill here is a league source because he is a fan of the league and he tells it differently. The team has not said they’re looking to move on but if Pat Mahomes became an option, even I’m smart enough to make that move?

Regardless, this fan doesn’t want Tagovailoa to receive a long-term contract from Miami.
He had 1 good year that was plagued by injuries and both the qbs that came out in his class have had multiple successful years i dont think you throw him the bag

During his first two NFL seasons, the University of Alabama product sputtered, as his long-ball accuracy was questioned, as was the viability of his overall game.
But for much of the 2022 campaign, he shined brightly while helping Miami boast an offense that looked very explosive at times.
With his help, second-year wide receiver Jaylen Waddle emerged and registered 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns, while new acquisition Tyreek Hill had a career-high 1,710 yards.
But starting with a Week 13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Tagovailoa’s production started to decline.
Even after he went into concussion protocol, Miami managed to sneak into the playoffs, where it mounted a serious challenge to the Buffalo Bills before falling by three points.
If Tagovailoa manages to stay healthy while continuing to up his play, perhaps a Vince Lombardi Trophy could be in the team’s future.
