The Cowboys Have Reportedly Made A Decision On Tony Pollard

The Dallas Cowboys had another disappointing season, as they went 12-5 only to lose early in the playoffs to the San Francisco 49ers for the second straight year.

But a new star emerged for them during the regular season.

Running back Tony Pollard took a big step forward by running for 1,007 yards and nine touchdowns while adding 371 yards and three touchdowns in the air, which earned him a Pro Bowl nod and gave the team a two-pronged ground attack along with Ezekiel Elliott.

Although Pollard will be a free agent, it looks like he will remain with the team for at least one more season as the Cowboys are reportedly poised to place the franchise tag on him if they cannot agree with him on a new contract.

The #Cowboys will franchise tag RB Tony Pollard if the two sides cannot work out a long-term deal by the Tuesday deadline, sources say. Dallas has been clear the tag is an option, and they aren’t in the business of letting great players walk. Pollard will be there in 2023.

For the last few years, the Cowboys’ core has included Elliott and quarterback Dak Prescott, but now Pollard, star pass rusher Micah Parsons, cornerback Trevon Diggs and wideout CeeDee Lamb have entered that group.

But despite having one of the NFL’s best collections of talent lately, they have always found a way to fall short of expectations.

They’re one of the most storied franchises in all of football, but they haven’t won or gotten to the Super Bowl since 1995, which also marked their last appearance in the NFC Championship Game.

Many are starting to feel that Prescott simply isn’t the QB who can take Dallas back to that championship level it was accustomed to decades ago.

At age 29, he is who he is at this point, and the franchise could be stuck in that “good but not great” netherworld.
