The Buccaneers Are Moving On From Another Veteran Player

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are having an active offseason thus far.

To start, they lost quarterback Tom Brady to retirement, which threw a wrench in their plans at the most important position.

But, over the last few days, the Bucs have released a few key veterans.

Running back Leonard Fournette was cut because the Bucs have decided to go younger at the position.

Not to mention they are also expected to move on from left tackle Donovan Smith.

But, tight end Cameron Brate was the most recent release from their roster.

#Bucs are expected to release tight end Cam Brate in the coming days, per source. Brate, who played nine seasons in Tampa, has a cap hit of around $5 million. A good run with 273 catches and 33 touchdowns.

Even though it is not official, Brate will end his Bucs career after playing nine seasons with the team.

This move was both to save cap space, and get younger at tight end.

Releasing Brate will save Tampa Bay around $2 million in cap space.

Also, they have a tight end who has been waiting for a chance to start in Cade Otton.

Otton was their fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft and caught 42 passes last season as a rookie.

So the Bucs will look a whole lot different in 2023.

They will have a new starting quarterback, running back, tight end, and left tackle.

You could say the 2023 season will be a rebuilding year for the Bucs.

But playing in such a bad division, they still have a chance to win it.

It will be interesting to see what their roster looks like in Week 1.

But, they should be looking to win the NFC South again in 2023.
