Giants Insider Comments On A Recent Release

The New York Giants have an important offseason ahead of them.

What they decide to do this offseason could affect their franchise over the next decade.

Both quarterback Daniel Jones, and running back Saquon Barkley are set to be free agents.

Each played an integral role in New York making the playoffs this past year, and now they want to be paid.

One thing the Giants can benefit from this offseason is clearing cap space to sign these players.

That is exactly what they did when they released wide receiver, Kenny Golladay.

It’s a $6.7 million savings vs. cap. A no-brainer for Giants. This was a move that just did not work out over two regimes. https://t.co/6woLEV5XpX

Golladay signed with the Giants before the 2021 season and has been ineffective in New York.

His signing looks like one of the worst over the past two offseasons.

During his time as a Giant, Golladay caught 43 passes for 602 yards and one touchdown.

He looked nothing like the player we saw in Detroit, and maybe that was because of his quarterback.

The dropoff from Matthew Stafford in Detroit to Jones is substantial, and Golladay’s production took a massive hit.

New York will save $6.7 million on the cap and can use that money toward an impact player.

Losing Golladay does leave a hole at wide receiver in New York.

That is one spot they need to upgrade in the offseason.

Whether it is through the draft, free agency, or trade.

One player that might have interest is Odell Beckham Jr.

The former Giant has said he is open to returning, and New York should look into that possibility.

If they want to get the best out of Jones at quarterback, surrounding him with weapons is the only way.
