The quarterback market in the NFL has changed dramatically over the last ten seasons.
In 2014, the average yearly quarterback salary of the ten highest-paid players was $19 million.
Just ten years later, that average has spiked to $35.7 million per year, again for the ten highest-paid quarterbacks.
When looking at the free agent market, a $35 million per year asking price isn’t out of the question, even for a quarterback like Derek Carr.
Dov Kleiman highlights the rumored asking price for Derek Carr, citing that $35 million per year is well within what teams are willing to pay him.
The NFL teams interested in free-agent QB Derek Carr believe that his asking price of about $35+ million a year isn’t considered a “hefty price tag” for what he can do for them, according to @diannaESPN

Carr was released by the Las Vegas Raiders during the initial 2023 offseason cycle.
He has been linked to several teams, including the New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, and the Carolina Panthers.
Even though Carr has a career-winning percentage of less than .500, his veteran presence could be invaluable to one of these three suitors.
The Jets and Saints both have young offensive weapons, and the Panthers are in a rebuilding mode at the moment.
Should one of these teams decide to take a chance on Carr, he will be moving into a great situation.
Wherever he goes is a great opportunity to start fresh, making an impact on a new team.
Carr is coming off of a 6-11 season with the Raiders and will look to find greater success elsewhere.
With any luck, Carr will establish himself on a new team, making his veteran impact felt.
Which team will establish itself as the number-one suitor to sign Carr in the offseason?
