Jets GM Comments On The Future Of Zach Wilson

The New York Jets have a massive offseason ahead of them.

Not only are they looking to build a roster that can contend for the playoffs, but they need to do something at quarterback.

2021 second-overall pick Zach Wilson, has not shown that he can get the job done in New York.

Wilson has been bad for the Jets in his two seasons as the starting quarterback.

He has a career record of 8-14 and has thrown 15 touchdown passes to 18 interceptions for his career.

Yet, despite Wilson playing poorly, Jets General Manager Joe Douglas is not giving up on him.

Joe Douglas on Zach Wilson:

“We still feel like there is a very high ceiling with Zach. We still feel strongly that Zach is going to be able to hit his ceiling.” pic.twitter.com/QiDV9Fp1dg

He said what he needed to say to the media, but it remains to be seen if the Jets believe it.

New York seems to be in the market for a veteran quarterback.

So, if they bring in someone like Derek Carr, that would essentially be the end of Wilson in New York.

Wilson would benefit from playing in a new city with a new coaching staff.

Some team that has an offensive head coach can try to save Wilson’s career.

At this point, it would not be smart for the Jets to go into next season with Wilson.

He has lost the locker room, as Jets players had a better connection with Mike White when he started last year.

Also, the Jets have a playoff-caliber defense.

All they need is the right man leading the offense, and Wilson has proven that he is not it.
