Former NFL Executive Has Honest Admission About Daniel Jones’ Contract

The New York Giants are facing a few difficult decisions this offseason.

The first and most important is what to do with quarterback Daniel Jones.

He is coming off a solid season where the Giants also won a playoff game.

Jones is reportedly looking to get a $45+ million contract.

Former NFL executive Andrew Brandt thinks Jones will end up getting that kind of money if he is not franchise tagged.

Signing Jones to that big of a contract would be a massive mistake.

Jones has never shown he can be an elite quarterback, and even last past season his stats were not very good.

The former first-round pick threw for 3,205 yards, 15 touchdowns, and only five interceptions.

Where Jones was at his best is running the ball.

He rushed for 708 yards and seven touchdowns.

The current franchise tag will pay Jones $32 million for next year.

So, he will not accept a long-term deal lower than that.

Most people probably agree that the Giants should just let Jones walk in free agency.

He is nowhere near a $40 million QB, and the Giants would be set back for years if they pay him that much.

It would be wise for them to use the franchise tag and have Jones prove it to them again.

Brandt feels that these average quarterbacks are hard to find, and teams would rather overpay than let them walk.

He mentioned how quarterbacks are overvalued and Jones is just the next one in line.

New York must be very careful with what they do with Jones this offseason.
