Cardinals Owner Comments On Kyler Murray’s Injury Status

Last season was a disaster for the Arizona Cardinals.

They seemed doomed from the start, with DeAndre Hopkins missing time due to a suspension, and they failed to gain any sort of momentum later in the year.

Things were so bad for Kliff Kingsbury’s team that the Kansas City Chiefs actually won more games (2) at State Farm Stadium than the Cardinals (1) all season.

Unsurprisingly, that led to Kingsbury finally getting the boot, and the Cardinals chose to go in a different direction.

However, 2023 doesn’t look a lot better in the desert.

Kyler Murray missed the final stretch of the season with a major knee injury, meaning he’s not going to be ready for the start of next season.

The team expects him to be back somewhere near midseason, but they’re not going to rush into anything or give out any potential dates, according to owner Michael Bidwill.

Bidwill on Kyler Murray’s return from ACL reconstruction: “I think (his return) is going to be earlier than this midseason, so hopefully, it’s toward the beginning of the season, but I don’t want to put any specific dates.” https://t.co/5SjovkH0qv

And with backup Colt McCoy also nursing an injury, the Cardinals might have to be quite active in the QB market in the next couple of weeks to find a suitable place-holder that can help them hold the fort down until one of them is ready to play.

Murray is one of the most mobile QBs in the league, and his ability to scramble is one of the things that helps him make up for his lack of size.

But that also puts him at risk on nearly every play, and they don’t want to take any chances with the guy they just signed to a massive contract extension.
